It’s not too late for the cleaning industry to be heard!

OSHA’s 2015 National Safety Stand-Down is a 9-day company and national awareness campaign to increase understanding and compliance with fall prevention methods. And there’s still time for every cleaning company in the US to participate before the official event ends May 15, 2015!

“Falls from heights remain the leading cause of death for construction workers,” said Deputy Labor Secretary Chris Lu. “Over the last 10 years, more than 3.500 workers have died as a result of falls – more than 1 in 3 of all construction deaths.”

In the cleaning industry, falls most commonly occur

  • when improperly using 2-step ladders to reach high places
  • navigating icy walkways and steps during the winter months
  • traversing indoor stairs while carrying equipment

In addition to protecting workers from injury, cleaning business owners save tens of thousands of dollars in workers compensation premiums and unemployment and disability payouts when they have, implement, and repeat a solid safey protocol as part of their employee training and engagement program.
